This is our most accessible walking holiday, designed for those who want to experience the incredible landscapes of New Zealand without taking on the more
challenging distances and elevation gains of our other tours. The walks are shorter and more manageable, but the experiences are anything but small.

You’ll explore ancient forests, discover hidden waterfalls, spot native wildlife and walk through landscapes shaped by thousands of years of volcanic and natural history — all while enjoying the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes a Walking Legends holiday special. And, as always, you enjoy the walking and we take care of the rest.

Your accommodation, meals, transport and experienced Walking Legends guide are all taken care of, leaving you free to enjoy the scenery, the stories and the company. We'll stay in the same luxurious hotel accommodation each night, with ensuite rooms, right next to Whakarewarewa and the Pohutu Geyser, the home of the Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao people.

  • Join a small, fun group led by a professional, friendly Kiwi hiking guide. 
  • Spend 4 - 7 hours per day exploring the unique and varied hiking trails of the Bay of Plenty region.
  • No heavy packs: you'll just carry a daypack with your daily essentials.
  • Relax at the end of each day in good quality hotel accommodation on the quiet city fringe.
  • Enjoy delicious local fare, sample the unique flavours of the region including crisp Kiwi wine and craft beers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Includes: 3 nights in 4-star ensuite hotel rooms; return Rotorua to Rotorua transport; knowledgeable & experienced guides; nutritious, delicious meals, trail snacks, hot drinks, wines and beers with evening meals; complimentary hire of quality hiking equipment on request.
  • Your Walking Legends guides will collect you from your pre-tour accommodation in central Rotorua, or the Rotorua Airport.
  • Transport from Auckland can also be arranged for private groups, please enquire.

DEPARTURES

This trip departs monthly from October to April inclusive. More frequent departure dates can be arranged on request for groups of 6 or more.
